Greeting my friends I hope this post finds you doing well. I hope you had a great holiday season surrounded by friends and family. With the holidays behind us and the new year ahead, I have dreams and aspirations of amazing things to come in the near year. The 2019/2020 Winter is off to a nice welcomed start. We’ve see some nice early storms helping lay the base. Many resorts are close to fully opened and with another dump or two most should be close to 100%. It’s been a fun early season.
Here are some pics from the early season fun:

FEEDBACK, COMMENTS, &PICS
FEEDBACK
It was an awesome year and even better decade. We have met so many people over the past few years and we have seen the joy that skiing and winter brings. We just love it.
We continue to receive feedback; entertaining feedback I may add. You sent us a little bit of everything. We received replies on FB and IG as well as the website WWW.THRILLOFTHEMOUNTAIN.COM
You sent us texts, emails, notes, emojis and emoji-cons. Thank you. We are grateful for anything we receive and send thanks to those who send us stuff, anything. Keep it coming my friends.
Here’s some of what you sent to us recently:
Have a fun day!!!
We try to always. I am the director of fun. From one reader regarding my early trip to Breck . . .
That’s a good place to make a few runs and get the legs working properly.
Breck is a good place period. And when The Broken Compass Brewery came up . .
Have a coconut porter, enjoy the sun. Yup life is good.
No complaints here. Yes, life is good. Always enjoy a nice compliment:
Great post!!!
Glad you enjoyed it. Missed this guy when we were crossing paths . . .
Sorry to miss you CM MAN. I came back to town, just 90 minutes and ten thousand vertical warp up. The legs still work.
Its just like riding a bike. We had some warm wishes for the holidays from this reader . . .
Happy Thanksgiving brother. Hope ur scoring some CO pow. I had face shots all day. Been so fun. Thankful for snow!!!
We are always thankful for snow but we have so much more to be thankful for.
Received this from one reader:
I went snowshoeing on Jim Creek trail here.
I love a good shoe. And love skiing above tree line in the alpine. Not everyone can get that . . .
Pretty good here nothing high yet except me.
High alpine terrain should be opening soon. Until then, stay classy my friend.
You win some, you lose some. I missed a storm, a big dump. Life moves on . . . I know it’s not easy . . .
Oh, you know it would be epic, like that day we hit the Stone Creek Chutes.
There’s always tomorrow. And yes, I know what it’s like to be drawn to the mountains . . . I gave up traditional work to be close to the energy of them.
I have been so off since I have been home, it’s like I feel the mountains pulling me back and I’m not supposed to be here. I can’t f ing concentrate half of the time and the other half I’m thinking of the 20 inches they are getting at Vail this week. I’m sending this to you because I don’t think anyone else would understand.
As the great late Warren Miller said “If you don’t do it this year, you’ll be one year older when you do.” Get to the mountains do what you want. You only live once and if you don’t do it this year you will be one year older when you do.

SNOW CONDITIONS

A WHOPPING 73″
It snowed in December. Oh yea it snowed. Then it got cold. It’s still cold. LIKE REALLY COLD . . . from my one friend
-17 feels like when I took the dog out
With more snow in the forecast, winter is here and hopefully to stay. Have fun out there, dress appropriately and be careful. Frost bite and hypothermia are real and can happen to you quickly. Cover your face, hands, and any exposed skin. Dress with extra layers on those really cold days. Drink warm liquids and take more breaks to keep warm.
